Lunar Position and Phase in Google Earth
A series of Google Earth Timeline animations, sorted by date, which plot a track of the Moon’s geographic position over one synodic period - New Moon to New Moon . To make things a little more exciting, the files include an animated screen overlay displaying the relevant lunar phase.
I’ve made it so it’s possible to open more than one of these files at once , and play them back to back. With that in mind, they can either be downloaded individually or through a networklink.

Moon images are based on a rescaled version of this GIF animation. KML generated from Perl.
By playing around with Google Earth’s settings, there are a few interesting things you can do with this animation, but I’ll write about that another day.
Note: The latest version of Google Earth - 4.1, has a weird bug which causes the moon overlay to resize unpredictably when more than one of these files are open. Not a major issue, just looks a little odd. Everything else still seems to work ok.
