Ferris Wheel Construction Animation
Another variation on my Vienna Ferris Wheel animation.
While checking around the web for info on the Riesenrad, I came across a video on the official website, making the point that during construction, Ferris wheels don’t require support scaffolding. Tension and compression forces are always in balance.
I’ve created a simple animation of this, by breaking up the original SketchUp models, then combining the parts one by one in Google Earth.

Note: Google Earth takes a short while to load all 600 animation frames into memory. To speed this up I recommend moving the time slider to the far right, waiting for the entire model to appear, then moving the time slider back to the left, before hitting play.
